Celebrating 25 Years on The Bricks All Month Long
Downtown Hays businesses come together for June birthday month celebration featuring late shopping, music, art, Bricks Birthday beverages, a ribbon cutting, and a birthday brunch at the Market
HAYS, Kan. — The Bricks in Downtown Hays is celebrating a major milestone this June with a month-long celebration honoring 25 years of The Bricks as a place for community, connection, local business, and downtown vibrancy.
Throughout June, downtown businesses are coming together to celebrate 25 years on The Bricks with special activities, late-night shopping, live music, art classes, The Bricks Birthday beverages, and family-friendly fun. Special events and promotions will take place throughout the month, with a focus on Thursday evenings in Downtown Hays.
Participating retailers on The Bricks will stay open until 7 p.m. on Thursdays in June, giving the community more opportunities to enjoy summertime shopping, dining, sipping, and strolling downtown.
Businesses located within the Downtown Hays Common Consumption Area are offering special Bricks Birthday beverages during the month. Guests can purchase beverages from participating businesses and enjoy them while exploring the downtown district within the Common Consumption Area guidelines.
“This celebration is about more than a birthday,” said Lee Ann June, Executive Director of The Bricks in Downtown Hays. “It is a chance to celebrate 25 years of community investment, local business, historic character, and the people who continue to make Downtown Hays feel welcoming and full of energy.”
In addition to late shopping and beverage specials, several downtown businesses and partners are adding to the celebration. The Niche will offer art classes on Thursday evenings, with details available through The Niche’s Facebook page. Lovegrass Music Festival Association will also bring music to The Bricks with its concert series on Thursday, June 11, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Downtown Pavilion, along with two additional Thursday jam sessions from 7 to 9 p.m. Community members are invited to come listen, enjoy the evening, or join in the jam session after shopping downtown.
The month-long celebration will continue with a Chamber Chat and Ribbon Cutting on Friday, June 26, at 9 a.m. at the Downtown Pavilion. The event will celebrate the completion of the new concession stand and recognize 25 years of The Bricks in Downtown Hays. The public is welcome to attend, and donors are especially invited to join as their contributions helped make the construction of the concession stand possible.
“We are so excited to celebrate the completion of the concession stand with the community and the donors who helped bring this project to life,” June said. “Their support has created something that will serve downtown events, the Downtown Hays Market, and community gatherings for years to come.”
The birthday month celebration will wrap up on Saturday, June 27, with The Bricks Birthday Brunch at the Downtown Hays Market. The market will take place from 7:30 to 11 a.m. and will feature music, additional brunch food and drink options, games, and birthday fun for the whole family.
The Bricks invites residents, visitors, downtown supporters, and community partners to celebrate throughout the month by shopping local, attending events, enjoying downtown businesses, and joining the June 26th ribbon cutting and June 27thBirthday Brunch.
