Description
On August 2, 1943, prisoners at the Nazi extermination camp Treblinka II launched an uprising, freeing—at least temporarily—as many as 300 Jewish slave laborers. This revolt & the many earlier acts of defiance that made it possible are among the most awe-inspiring episodes of Jewish resistance during the Holocaust. Using the testimonies of revolt survivors, prior escapees, & even those of former SS guards, we can now shed new light on this history & the people who took part, foregrounding the actions of women prisoners for the first time & revealing their central place in this story after years of silence. https://www.visithays.com/calendar.aspx?EID=22034
